# EAC3 transcoding failing

I know there are tons of other posts about EAC3 failing to transcode, but I have yet to find a solution.

I moved my plex installation from a Linux VM, which plays everything fine, to a bare metal ubuntu with an nvidia GPU and plex running in a container. Jellyfin in another container plays all the videos fine.

Both the old server and the new one are running the latest version of Plex. I have tried downgrading plex on the new server to several iterations and none have worked. When I try to play a video using EAC3 in the browser or Chromecast TV sticks, I get the error below.

I’ve also deleted the Codecs directory and let Plex recreate it.

Permissions all check out as far as I can tell.

Any other suggestions?

The fix for my situation was to create a custom transcode directory in the docker config like:

`volumes:`  
` - ./transcode:/transcode`

Then point plex to /transcode under Settings/Transcoder/Transcoder temporary directory

Oh yeah, also have to match permissions to the user specified in your docker config (PUID/PGID) and chmod 775 on the directory.
