I hope the issue is worked out properly soon though! ---

I’m trying to install plex 64bits on my Oneiric, but it says that the package has no information about its size and that it is against the Debian policies, I can ignore and continue installing, but is that normal ? Can it be fixed ? ---

I can confirm that eclipsenet2k’s fix worked for me on Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. It isn’t perfect, but it does the trick! Thanks! ---

Please can someone help me. I have installed PMC on linux mint 12 KDE, everything works except video playback audi from my music works fine. what do I need to do to get PMC working? thanks ---

I’m having the same problems on Ubuntu 11.10. I can see all available media on the server but when I try to start a video nothing happens. Did anyone manage to get this working? ---

I've been able to get local-net and public internet playback working this way for now. ---

Main problem with this workaround is that it seems to circumvent the on the fly bandwidth autodetecting, so when I try to remotely watch a 720p video (which I don't have enough upload to do fully) the video plays stuterring as the buffer waits to refill. I don't see any option inside of plex to manually lower the bandwidth. Is there a way to do it or do I just need to wait for the player fix? ---

I am another user who sought out a temporary solution for this issue while the real developers can work on the issue. I am suggesting the use of a configuration that is built into XBMC (which is the basis for the Plex client) that they even suggest as a workaround for similar issues. Excuse me for trying to help, if you don't like the work-around, don't use it. Also, there is a new work-around that fixes the internal player. I've tested it on Ubuntu 11.10 but haven't had a chance to try on the other versions yet. It's really easy to fix. Apparently this solution is very closely tied to the root-cause of the issue, maybe there will be an update soon. ---

I am at work right now and have tested it from here to my home Plex ;) The new work-around/fix is much better though as it fixes the player in Plex. :) ---

Has anyone tried building on 64bit Ubuntu 11.04? I got it to build and “install”, but only the primary menu renders. ---

That worked for me too. Only thing I am facing is the lack of GPU video acceleration using VDPUA as I have an Asrock 330 ION. Hopefully, support for VDPUA can be enabled somehow from within plex. ---

Has anyone tried to compile this yet on 12.04? I upgraded my Linux box recently and it quit working now ☹ Basically the fix that was provided for the playback is what is broken… One of the libraries (can’t remember which one at the moment, not near the computer) is no longer provided by 12.04… Just wondering if anyone had got around this yet. Thanks 🙂 Edit: it is the libbz2.so that is the issue.
