Hello,

I have no idea if this has been suggested before but I would LOVE to see a Export/Import feature for the server so as migration from one computer to another or one OS platform to another can be seamless and not as frustrating as I am finding it.

Thanks for the great program.

Mark

Depending on the specific use case you’re aiming for, there’s already a number of existing feature suggestions asking for that kind of functionality:

> I suggest a simple solution to moving your library to a new machine. I don’t understand why it has to be so difficult. Plex needs an option for users to easily bundle their necessary files and then install them on the new machine. I’ve tried multiple times with multiple machines and never had any luck moving my server to a new machine without having to build my metadata back up from scratch. I’ve read the instructions but it never works. Instructions are unclear or incomplete. Would it be so ha…

Just a simple export\zip button of metadata…then a import\unzip Even cross platform Back up and Restore of all meta data… example: I have a plex server now with hundreds of audio, tv and movie meta data! Including the stuff i corrected manually …on a PC what if the PC crashes? (would be nice to have a backup periodically) what if i want to move it to Apple IOS ,Linux What i…

I would LOVE to have a simple option in the setting menu to save locally on my desktop and then browse to that file and restore once reinstalled. Or possibly some kind of cloud back up for us Plex Pass folks! Thanks!

Unless I’m missing some unique aspect of your suggestion I’ll therefore close this thread as a duplicate.

In addition – have a look at this thread → [Corrupt Database - Transferring User Information](https://forums.plex.tv/t/corrupt-database-transferring-user-information/771222) where I (and some other community members) included a process to import/export. It has some limitations (custom edited fields, music playlists to name a few) but for the most part works.

Thanks for that.

I’ll take a look at your suggested threat.
