I'd love to have a possibility to add "dummy" entries to my Plex database so that I can add all movies I have on BluRay/DVD (and not on HDD) and let them appear in the Plex library. Plex should maybe even show, in which place I have too look. This way I could have ALL my movies listed in one place.

If you are just looking to use Plex like a database you could always create a library called something like "Physical Media" and put folders and small dummy clips named just as if they were the real movie. You could even make the dummy clip play something that indicated where to find the movie. I popped open power point real quick and made a mp4 clip that played a message just to try it.&nbsp;

Sounds like a lot of work to me and I think you would be better off ripping the discs but doing this would get you close to what you want.&nbsp;

It's a feature that those of us who have used MyMovies in Windows Media Center have had for years. Some of us find it very useful. The workaround posted by wboweiii is a reasonable alternative, and is already used by some MediaBrowser3 users.

</div>

Just because a feature is in a different piece of software does not mean Plex should have it, too. &nbsp;If you really want this, create a small video file that does nothing but tell you to go fetch the Blu-Ray off the shelf. &nbsp;This would still let you pull all the metadata, etc. &nbsp;You'd have to create a folder for each Blu-Ray movie and drop in the "fetch it" video into each one, but it would work just fine. &nbsp;If you were very studious, you could even use links so that the video would not have to be duplicated on disk. &nbsp;

I would not spend development time on this since there is an obvious workaround.

Thank you! That will work for me. I only have some 40-50ish BluRays so it's not that much work.

I second the idea (posted the same thing before being directed to this one) however unless people find this post and vote for it unlikely we’ll see it added. To me it makes perfect sense for this app to double as a complete media library - it’s perfect for it in fact - better than any other database app out there. I would LOVE this to be added. Those adding negative comments just because they don’t personally have a need for it are not being helpful. It’s a quick and easy feature to add and Plex could promote it as a media database to those who don’t even use downloads/rips - increasing their brand awareness.

+1 here also, would be very useful to do. no Chance i am going to rip all 400 of my blue rays, much prefer movie stubbs in library.

I don’t really have a need for this feature but I liked it because it makes sense.

> Some of you, like me, have over a thousand titles to bring into Plex. At least it looks that way to me from the little I’ve seen in the forums and elsewhere. Mine is going to take me a year (or three) to fully copy to hard disk from its original optical storage. I simply don’t have the time to do it all in one go. Because of this, I would like very much to have a single interface to manage the entire library. Call me crazy, but it seems to make sense to me that Plex could do this better than a…
