[Feature Request] Manual or Auto scan of unavailable media, add flag to item in DB

Hard drive failures, network issues, other broken links in the chain from you to the media you want can all cause media to no longer be available. From what I have read, Plex doesn’t do anything to determine if a source media file is available until a user manually attempts to access (play) it.

I run PMS in linux, an environment that lends itself more toward experimentation. Sometimes this leads to broken media entries (temporarily or permanent). I see value in a “deleted” or “unavailable” option in the filters, similar to “duplicates” - like suggested here but that discussion suggests the need for what I am asking for in this feature request.

I also found this additional use case for this flag here

I know it would be erroneous to add a check like this to the main scanner task, but an option to enable it, or run it manually would be awesome.

Plex already does this. Just use a periodical library update.
All unavailable items will get the ‘trash can’ on their posters.
(Just make sure you don’t have ‘Empty trash automatically after every scan’ activated!)
