Hope it is ok to create this specific thread for a feature request, support for Picture in Picture when the source is downloaded content.

Downloaded content with a large PIP window on my iPad is a common use case for me, but understand that it might not be a broader need. If it can’t be fixed, perhaps the user experience could be improved by removing the PIP control (else the application appears to just hang when you select it).
It’s really starting to bug me that Plex doesn’t have proper support for picture in picture across iOS and tvOS.
The reasons given is that the app will fall back to the “old player” (native iOS player) when starting pip. Other apps don’t seem to have a problem and don’t require transcoding from a server. Both Infuse and Channels fully support it across devices and are direct playing the same file.
It doesn’t seem like the Plex devs have any interest in improving the experience here.
I would love to see this feature as well. Currently I would only play my downloaded content in PIP mode, so it was very disappointing to learn that this isn’t possible.
