# Feature Request: Premium Photos

The music library got the premium treatment a while back and I’m loving it, but I’d really love to see the same type of push for premium features in the photo library function. I’ve never wanted to put my photos into a cloud service (the terms and conditions of Google’s photo service scare me a bit) and I gave up on iPhoto a while back. I’d love to see stuff like:
- facial recognition and a minimal interface to provide feedback on accuracy
- extended EXIF processing for tags and sorting
- full export support so I can select some photos and download the full/raw versions
- API access so that other apps could consume photos from Plex (maybe this would be a client-side thing?)
- detect duplicates
I really like the photo experience in the new iOS v4 app and would love to see…err… more love given to photos 🙂

This would nearly make Plex complete for me. Already a great program but still lacking on the photo area.

Yeah the thing i really miss within photos is some form of tagging not sure if there is an EXIF field for people but it would be fantastic to be able to tag a number of images with a person so they can be filtered in future. Geo data / date time also very useful to filter by

I would love to see the above suggestions implemented.
Integration with various photo cloud services (for those who use them) would also be very nice.

There is no Exif standard for People tags. However, there is a de facto standard for rectangular regions in images that is used for tagging people in photos. [This standard has been defined by the Metadata Working Group](http://www.metadataworkinggroup.com/info/index.html "This standard has been defined by the Metadata Working Group"), and uses XMP metadata.
The standard has been implemented in a number of products such as Google’s Picasa, Adobe’s Lightroom and IDimager’s Photo Supreme.

If Plex is going to be useful for doing more than just browsing folders of photos, then it has to understand the [IPTC Core standard](http://iptc.org/standards/photo-metadata/iptc-standard/ "IPTC Core standard") (which uses XMP) as a minimum. It would be excellent if it also understood the IPTC Extension standard as well.

would love to see facial recognition. As I recall it the DS photo package has it, so it must be some sort of package that can be readily implemented - also if the app (ios) could support video backup (upload) in addition to the photo backup, it would almost be complete.
