Sleep Timer!

Especially for the Roku app (and presumably PHT & the android TV/Amazon Fire app, if not all of them) it would be awesome to be able to set a sleep timer to match my TV. Currently, If I'm watching a 2 hour movie, and set my sleep timer for 30 minutes, it plays all 2 hours...chewing up bandwidth & leaving me unsure of where i stopped. If I could set a sleep-timer to automatically stop what was currently playing after a fixed time, that would save bandwidth and make viewing the rest later way simpler :)

I am a life time member and I love Plex! Will you add a feature for sleep timer in particular the Android app? I listen to audio books frequently especially when falling asleep and waking up to my book playing all night and not remember where I left off.

Audible app has this feature but I have some books on Plex and not Audible so I would love to have this feature. This also could apply to any music or videos as well.

You should be able to set it for 15 min increments up to 2 hours would be great.

Please let me know if this would be considered.

I concur with previous posts and would like a sleep timer. I mostly use iOS for audio. I already tried using the native iOS timer in Clock, but the Plex app apparently ignores it. I would personally request more granularity than 15 minutes, even down to 1 minute if the interface does not become too cumbersome.

I totally support adding a sleep timer especially for Roku. When Plex is running on Roku, it prevents the Roku from sleeping. A Plex sleep timer would exit the app and allow the Roku sleep feature to engage.

I requested this feature without knowing there was an existing request. So that got closed, so I’m putting my vote here as well.

Anyone else interested in this feature? I would think this would be awesome add. It’ available in my Audible app but I have plenty of content on Plex that I like listening to or watching at night and really would like a sleep timer.

**@ Plex team** would you care to comment if this would be option you would consider adding?

**@Elan** or anyone else from the **Plex team** is there enough interest for you to consider adding this? I definitely would love to see this come with the Audio book support you have already stated is coming.

Bumping this up. Still really interested in getting this. I think it would be an easy add. Could it be launched with the upcoming audio book support?

I would love to be able to adjust the timer or be able to turn the 2 hour timer off. I play my roku while I sleep and most of the day. It becomes a pain when I’m cooking and have to run and find the remote to keep it playing

Folks, I’m bumping it up, because Plex seems to care more about not having duplicate posts, than implementing useful features, that are generally considered basic functionality.

Here are the quotes of my post, because there’s no point rewording it.

> [@Sleep timer](https://forums.plex.tv/t/sleep-timer/814692/1):
>
> Plex players on Windows are sorely lacking a “sleep” timer.
>
> It would be really useful to be able to set a timer, and the action that the player should do after the timer runs out. The options could be - Turn off the monitor, Sleep, Shutdown. The same could apply after the movie, the episode, or a playlist finishes.
>
> If MPC-HC can turn off the monitor after the playback finishes, Plex players should be able to do that too. I don’t know about other platforms, but on Windows it’s going to be really simple to achieve. Then it’s just a matter of integrating that into the playback menu.
>
> Let us set the number of minutes (and/or simply select “after playback finishes”), and then select the action. “Run a program” as one of the actions would be a nice addition. It would give us a lot of possibilities.

> [@Sleep timer](https://forums.plex.tv/t/sleep-timer/814692/3):
>
> My suggestion refers to Windows platform. It would be substantially easier to implement it there. Of course, you can always run
>
> > shutdown -s -t XXX
>
> But that can’t be invoked easily with a remote, and isn’t really an elegant solution.
> Also, that’s just shutdown - you’d have to figure out something else to turn off the monitor.
>
> That’s completely different to Android TV, where there’s a native sleep timer function in the TV, and you can easily set it with a remote.
>
> Don’t you realize that I’m asking for something that’s mostly **basic functionality**?
> MPC-HC can play the next file, turn off the monitor, hibernate, shutdown, logoff, lock computer, exit program. VLC has an option to run a command after the playlist.
>
> This is significantly more than a simple timer, but also relatively easy to implement on Windows.

Soo, two years later, and still nothing?
Is it really so hard to implement such a **basic** feature?
I can’t believe this. F\*\*\*ing TV’s had that since I can remember.

Yes, I agree, this would be very useful. The HTPC has [Passout Protection](https://support.plex.tv/articles/htpc-settings/), which works kind of similarly, but the implementation on the Android app is very neat and tidy, it would be great to have the same settings and interface across platforms.

And your idea for setting what to do at the end of the timer (sleep, shutdown, turn off monitor, etc) is a good extension of that for PCs.

Was sorely disappointed to find that the Windows app lacked a basic sleep timer. Works perfectly on the Android app, any chance we might see this feature in the near future?
