This one has actually already been around for some weeks. From what I’ve seen, there’s been some pushback but most users were actually ok with the new behavior (while maybe hoping the experimental stage would have been a bit longer).
You can manually remove items from continue watching via their context menu (⋮ > Remove from Continue Watching)
I can follow your point about users no longer being able to customize their own home screen. This is currently largely in the hand of the server owner.
There’s a feature suggestion to let users handle which hubs they actually want to see.
Not sure I understand your point about the hidden library. If you haven’t shared that library with a user, they won’t see the related hubs on their home screen. If you’re referring to the hubs from “Movies & TV on plex” … there’s been some hiccup yesterday that caused some online media sources to show up in your navigation and home screen despite being disabled in your account settings. This had been fixed with the release of Plex Web 4.56.4 (currently only available in the hosted version of Plex Web; I’m optimistic it’ll be updated in the desktop app shortly).
