I have a 6Mbps h.264 m4v file that will Direct Play on my iPhone X, but is video transcoding to my 4K Apple TV (which isn’t workable as my server CPU sucks). Video quality settings on both devices are the exact same and Direct Play is enabled.
File is 100% compatible with both devices. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance for any help!!
LOL. Ok so I figured it out. I thought I had Quality settings for Home Streaming set to 12Mbps, 1080p on both devices. Turns out it was on “Recommended” on the iPhone X. Big airhead mistake, but if you notice the Home Streaming option is above the Internet Streaming option on Apple TV settings, and it’s below the Internet Streaming option on iPhone settings… so being a bit careless and in a rush to figure this out… I was thinking they were both set to 12Mpbs for Home Streaming, when in fact the Apple TV was set to 12Mpbs for Internet Streaming, not Home Streaming.
Sorry for the post as I know this board gets flooded with help requests. It might be a good idea for Plex to keep the settings layout as consistent as possible across clients so dumb mistakes like this don’t happen.
