I like to view my movie library “by date added”, but now I have come to a time when I want to reorganize my folder structure and folder names, as well as consolidate separate folders into larger ones. This makes a mess of the “by date added” metadata.
In a past posting, @OttoKerner has said …
"If you add media in the course of creating a Plex library, Plex will use the file’s date as ‘Added at’.
"But it will do this only this first time.
“If you think about it, this is more useful than having all of your library’s item added at the same day.”
While I agree with @OttoKerner , it seems that a helpful feature to have would be an on-demand link (button) to force the movie file date into the “by date added” metadata. This would accommodate occasional manual library reorganizations as your requirements (and experience) grow/change.
Has anyone else bumped into this issue? Have I missed some feature that is already available?
