# Friends using plex cant link account

I have friends/family that use my plex account to watch content when they log in on there device or tv it asks to link to there server as they dont have one how do you get past this step so they can access the free content and my content if they dont have a server or even a pc

There is no step to link to a server. They only need to link the device to their account or your account if they are using that.

They need at least access to a device with a web browser to perform the linking.  
They go to [https://plex.tv](https://plex.tv) and “sign in”.  
(Either using their own Plex account credentials or yours)

After signing in, they go to the page [Link | Plex](https://plex.tv/link)  
where they type in the code which is shown on the device.  
Keep in mind that this link code is only valid for a very short time.
