Glad to see the excitement for Google Home integration. It’s a planned feature, but not ready yet. Focus in this space has been on improving Alexa support, bringing additional functionality to that, with Google coming next.

I know the feeling. I don’t want to have to go through all of that just to make the Echo compatible with Chromecast. /sadpanda
you should give it try most of the setup is easy. got hard when i tried to link my acct to google just didn’t work for me. and i don’t know what is different that my server wont work.
It’s been important ever since the Home was released. It boggles my mind that live tv and news for Roku was a priority over this. Oh well. All we can do is wait.

news for Roku who needed this? Yea I need google home now I been running my tv off google home from the time I got google home mini and it sucks that i have to pull my phone out to play anything off plex.Takes the fun away from the google home.
Black friday google homes in every room with a tv!!! Need plex to work and with the new google home update so you DONT have to say hey google talk to plex. pls make this work soon.
Oh and also let people be able to selected user of plex for google home or each google home user be able to select the plex user. Netflix doesn’t do this and I hate it. got kid show be suggested now cause my wife uses it for our son.

I too would like to see Google Home support. Would round off Plex voice control capability nicely. They’ve got it in their sights. I get that you’re generalizing, but judging by the usage stats, News is being used by plenty of users.

Where are the stats located? I would be in shock if anyone is using that useless feature.

We don’t publish that information. Why would you be shocked? Ever heard of the expression, “different strokes for different folks?” It might not be appealing to you, but it is appealing to others. The new account setting will give you control over enabling and disabling this feature (completely removing it from your home screen and across all Plex apps) for the account admin and managed users. You’ll be able to completely disable it for everyone under your account if you choose not to use the feature and don’t want to see it. You’ll also be able to disable it just for managed users while keeping it enabled for the account admin.
Have the team get on it.
