Guys I am trying to install this plex connect on an ATV2 and am running up against various issues.

I cannot get my head around how this appletv will use my certificate I generated on my server, whats that got to do with [http://trailers.apple.com](http://trailers.apple.com) ?

i.e. on my dell server running PMS I install ssl and ran the commands. However the second command warned it could not open a file, never the less I got three files out of it and stuck the two into the plexconnect assets certs folder as instructed.

How is that in any way connected to my ATV which I received today and which does not even know that server exists?

It tends to agree when I tried to add aprofile it told me there was an error and to check the address I had entered was correct, which it was. But of course I can go no further, because to my mind I don't even understand how the ATV would know to look at my dell server for the certificate.

Any help appreciated, because all in all it was 100 times easier just to hack an ATV2.

Hi yes I followed the wiki. The problem is even after following it, I have encountered issues as detailed in the original post.

Believe it or not I did not guess it this far :)

You tell your aTV your PlexConnect IP address - as manual DNS setting, right? That's the way it knows.

After that your PlexConnect machine is known as "trailers.apple.com" - instead of the big one in Cupertino.

OK, I need to read more carefully perhaps, but this is what the 'set up atv' says in the wiki:

Install the certificate to your AppleTV

Go to the AppleTV settings menu.

Select “General” then scroll the cursor down to highlight “Send Data To Apple” and set to "No".

With "Send Data To Apple" highlighted, press “Play” (not the normal “Select” button) and you will be prompted to add a profile.

Enter (without the quotes): "[http://trailers.apple.com/trailers.cer"](http://trailers.apple.com/trailers.cer)

So where am I entering an IP address of the server?

OK I tried again from the beginning today, Everything is up and running on the server side I think except this error which perhaps is screwing things up

failed to connect to http on XXXIP port 80: [errno 10013] an attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions.

This one is a bit beyond me as I understand port 80 is for the internet, I am running windows server 2008 if it makes a difference.

The effect is still on the ATV when attempting to add the new profile it will either stall at the creating profile stage, just a spinning ball until you give up, or it will say 'an error occured while adding profile error 109'

However when I attempt to add the profile in the python window on the server it notes that a DNS was received from the ATV and that there was an intercept request.

Any ideas?

Port 80 is most likely being used by IIS in windows server (if installed). You will need to free this ip so plexconnect can use it, or follow some of the advanced setup to allow you to use a different port and forward the requests in IIS.
