# Hardware acceleration transcoding AMD Ryzen 3400g

So I am a Plex guy but I am getting my unraid set up and I am seeing that Plex does not support hardware acceleration with AMD APU’s. Is this true ?

Yes, for all platforms except Windows, under which it works using the DXVA2/MF APIs. There is however a feature request for AMD hardware accelerated decoding and encoding to be supported more broadly:

As of right now, to use hardware accelerated transcoding under Linux/Docker, either an Intel CPU supporting Quick Sync or an Nvidia GPU supporting NVDEC/NVENC is required.
