Hardware transcoding issues with PMS 1.24.x and 1.25.x? Any details on what the HW transcoding issues are and is a fix in progress?

I only know that I pay for a PLEX pass and I pay for a NVIDIA Shield to use PMS with it because the transcoding option which is great for my ecosystem. So please, please, please, someone take control on this and start working to solve it.

Thank you in advance.

So after all this time still nothing?

@anon18523487 please, tell us something about working progress about this issue.

Thank you

5 days and still nothing… so still waiting…

Core advertised functionality has been straight broken for 6 months. They don’t care. Not enough shield-plex users to actually dedicate any resources to the product, or we’d have at least a substantive update by this point as to the investigation. I wouldn’t expect any fix from them at all for this and think this will be left unfixed for good at this point.

Great… Very bad news for me… I’m really disapointed and they should give us the chance to do a downgrade and recover the lost transcoding functionality… I don’t use SHIELD for anything else but plex server and transcode video…

@MovieFan. Plex Is this true? It sounds very plausible…

It better not be, I bought the Shield for one thing only and that’s to use as a Plex Media Server.

Me tooo

Same here. And am getting really pissed now. I even bought a lifetime Plex pass even though I didn’t need to.

I also purchased a lifetime Plex Pass, specifically to get hardware transcoding.
Hopefully Plex will be able to fix this soon.

Sorry what??

What does my Plex PLAYER have to do with my PC??

I am transcoding on my PC AND IT DOES NOT WORK SINCE last 2 months, the only fix was to revert to 1.24, which has its own set of problems (i.e. scrapers broken, all shows showing up as 1900-01-01),

COME ON MAN, whats the ETA on this fixes??

Posted this a month ago, its on reddit for 7 months…

Oh @anon18523487 I sent the logs to your colleague sa2000 in PM

This thread concerns running Plex Media Server on a Nvidia Shield.

It does not deal with running Plex Media Server on another platform, such as Windows.

@FordGuy61 Well, you want to point me to a thread that does deal with it smart guy?

I’d say the issue persisting since October 2021 is an issue.

He isn’t a ā€œsmart guyā€ you are just in the wrong thread. The search function should help you find the correct thread. And if you can’t find it there, start a new thread.

The issues discussed in this thread are specific to running Plex Media Server on an Nvidia Shield.

Diluting the thread with questions about other platforms serves no one well.

Unfortunately, no one replied to your thread in the server-windows area of the forum.

You may want to re-create the problem then upload the server log files to your original thread. Some problems are difficult to diagnose without log files. See Reporting issues with Plex Media Server for details on configuring and retrieving server log files.

You can also search the server-windows section, as others may have similar problems.

I did start a new thread, a month ago, and its not showing up or being discussed at all.

Again, the issues are the same, I’m watching it on the Shield.

:frowning:

Not really. The way HW transocding works on the Shield is totally different from Windows. I got your PM and responded.

@anon18523487 - Can you also check my PM from a week or so ago which was a follow-up; i guess you may have missed it.
I sent you the additional logs for the 1080P TrueHD file, as requested (in addition to the 4K HDR TrueHD file - think you needed 1 additional log file for that which I sent at the same time as the 1080P file logs)
