Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 Player Version#: 4.147.1 \ Hi, hardware transcoding is not working. I have an Synology NAS DS225+ with an Intel J4125. That [supports](https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/products/sku/197305/intel-celeron-processor-j4125-4m-cache-up-to-2-70-ghz/specifications.html?wapkw=celeron%20j4125) Quick Sync Video. I have installed Plex from the Synology package center. Tested it with files like: Big Buck Bunny (MP4 – H.264 – 1080p) to 720p 4 mbps Jellyfish **H.264 – 1080p – 20 Mbps** and **HEVC – 1080p – 20 Mbps** to 720p 4 mbps Use hardware acceleration when available box is checked. Synology has removed HW transcoding from their 2025 products. There is nothing we can do without DSM supporting it. ---

No! And using Plex in Docker on that same NAS would also not do the trick? ---

@BeWhoYouWannaBe You are correct. DSM is not providing the HW support. Docker uses the same executable as the native package does. (it’s just packaged differently) Both rely on the operating system (DSM 7 and the NAS firmware) to provide the support. In this case, DSM 7 for the x25+ products does NOT support HW GPU access. ---

@PunkleJones If those modules are legit then it will work. #### PLEASE – Please understand my position in this… ☹ I cannot provide any support for such configurations. #### REALLY sorry all. ( I know what the mods are required and how easy it is to fix but I’m not allowed to do it ) ---

It’s not your fault, that Synology is going down the drain with their products. I am thinking about switching to UGreen with a N100/N150 CPU or a self-built Unraid/TrueNAS to have full HW acceleration and full UHD HDR streaming without hiccups. ---

This worked for me and saved me a lot of money. Many thanks for this reply! This was the second Synology disappointment. First only Synology NAS HDD in the DS225+ and now this. I hope this was the last. ---

Speaking as “Chuck” ( taking off my work hat ) 1. DS1813+, 8 drives in RAID 5 (should be RAID 6) 2. Little 4x4 mini-pc (I have a few different ones but like the Beelink Mini PC, Mini S12.) 3. Cheap, quick (N100 CPU), great graphics (it’s an AlderLake GPU). 4. I run Ubuntu server on it (but it came with Windows). That little gui is every bit as good everything else EXCEPT my big expensive Nvidia GPU card (which costs 4x as much .. haha) ---
