So you don’t have a port forwarding setup?

Either upnp or manual port forwarding…
Setup a manual port forwarding.

If you need assistance post your router model and question.

Yes disable UPNP and make sure in Plex you check the box to manually specify the port.

Check [canyouseeme.org](http://canyouseeme.org) for success.

Can you post your port forwarding setup?
Can you confirm your public IP on your router matches what [canyouseeme.org](http://canyouseeme.org) shows?

@em2mcl - If you are sure you have created the correct port forwarding rule within the router, and you are sure you have disabled uPnP, then please shutdown the Plex Server, leave it shutdown, and restart your router. Once your router has successfully reconnected to the internet, startup Plex Server and then see what happens.

The reason I suggest this is because I have seen many routers hang on to sessions, even after disabling features, and only a reboot of the router clears this up.

With port forwarding should the service be TCP, UDP or both?

PMS **only** needs TCP. it doesn’t stream with UDP.

Should I have a static IP from my service provider?

Static IP is not required. A Public-facing real IP is needed for remote access if the ISP provides CG-NAT addresses at the WAN port of the router (what the modem/router thinks its IP address is)

CG NAT addresses are 100.64.x.x/10

> **[Carrier-grade NAT](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carrier-grade_NAT)**
>
> Carrier-grade NAT (CGN), also known as large-scale NAT (LSN), is an approach to IPv4 network design in which end sites, in particular residential networks, are configured with private network addresses that are translated to public IPv4 addresses by middlebox network address translator devices embedded in the network operator's network, permitting the sharing of small pools of public addresses among many end sites. This shifts the NAT function and configuration thereof from the customer premises ...
