Hi, does anyone know if there is a fix? I am experiencing the same issue when sending an invite to some frieds.
I have tried to invite some friends to my plex account and they are receiving this error. It is embarrassing, they think this is somehow my issue.
Same error here.
Invitation error and nothing happening.
Same problem here. Something is broken. This is not user error. This is not incorrect email address. THIS IS BROKEN ON PLEX’S END!
Things I have tried:
Sending invite to the email via the ‘Add Friend’ button. I tried two different gmail accounts and checked in the spam folders. The emails are not arriving.
Using the link given when you use the ‘add friend’ button: ‘Sorry an error has happened with this invitation’.
Had the user create their own plex account and sent an invite to that user. They show up as a plex user when I add them as a friend but they never get the invite. You can go to settings / users and sharing on their account and there is no invite to accept.
Cancelled and resent invites throughout the above steps.
What is the resolution here, @Plex??
Please PM me the email addresses of the people you are trying to invite.
Having the same issue. Sent invite using my account. The recipient has created a new Plex account using her GMAIL to setup a new user. I sent the invite to her gmail account. She receives the email and clicks the invite and gets the error. There has got to be a better way or at least an error message that specifies what the problem might be.
I have this same issue I can send an invite but it always errors out when a friend tries to add to their Plex please help!
I too have the same issue.
Thanks for all the suggestions to fix, however, none work for me - worth trying nonetheless.
If you are having this issue, first thing is to check that your friend has created their Plex account using the same email address that you are sending the invite to. Except for 1 or 2 instances where there was a problem with a user’s account, everyone that has contacted me has been due to the email address not matching. Here are a few hints.
- @gmail.com and @googlemail.com are not the same thing
- creating an account with an Apple ID and the privacy mode enabled results in a randomly assigned email address from Apple, if the invitation is to their actual email address, it won’t work, you need to invite their randomly generated email address which your friend will need to tell you
- if your friend has more than 1 Plex account, they need to be signed in to the correct account to accept the invitation, just clicking on the link in the email does not switch accounts
I’m unable to send an invite to a friend that just created an account. Every invite i send has an error after he tries to accept. Sent a PM with the email.
Hi there, I am having the same issue trying to share my library to a friend. Could you please help me?
We have sent the invitation over and over again, it says invite error.
Thanks
Please PM me the email address of the person you are trying to invite.
Same problem here; got a friend all set up with Plex but my invite still keeps erroring. May I PM you the address to confirm?
Yes, PM me their email address.
No ■■■■, right? Pay for a service with no direct line to support.
Is this bug still ongoing? I’ve been trying to invite a friend and I’ve been struggling with this for the last few days…
I’m still getting the error inviting someone.
Please see my comment from back in March. Hmm, an invite error... Sorry, an error happened when accepting the invitation'' - #178 by MovieFan.Plex If none of these apply to you, PM me the email address for the friend you are trying to invite.
I was getting this error for no obvious reason. This worked to fix it. Thanks!
Are Plex developers working to give invitees a more informational screen than the non-helpful “Hmmm” error message? Might I suggest it read “We cannot find a Plex account associated with invite-sent-here@mail.com, do you already have an account or wish to set one up with that address?”
There is nothing more infuriating than an error message that offers no helpful solution and resorts to an endless support thread going on for years and years like this.
C’mon Plex, let’s go…
