How do I know the optimized version is "better" than the original?

Hi all -

I have completed an arduous batch of 500GB of movies.

How do I know that the optimized versions (the new Plex Versions) are better than the originals?

I would like to remove those originals if the Plex version is better

thank you so much for reading and responding

Tim

‘Optimized’ does not mean ‘better’.
Optimized means ‘probably easier to stream’ because live transcoding can be avoided when playing back these files.
‘Optimizing’ is a measure to ease the burden on your server’s cpu, not to make files ‘better’.

btw. quality-wise, those ‘optimized’ files are never better. Because the video and/or audio stream may have been ‘transcoded’, which is always a lossy process.

thank you so much kind sir
