How do I remove "News" from my Roku dashboard?

I hate when designers implement new features and turn them on by default with no apparent way to turn them off. Is there any way to take News off of my Roku dashboard?

The dashboard is literally a place to organize the things I use all the time... I will never use this so why can't I remove it?

Thanks.

I know asking is pointless, but I’d like the ability to remove this feature as well. The last thing I want to do is watch the news.

#3

DItto; I never want to watch the news. Please provide a way to get it off my screen.

#4

I would also like this news to go away

#5

Another request for the ability to remove this.

Go here:

That’s how we’re supposed to vote around here.

I’d love to see 10,000 Likes on that post, but I don’t think there are that many forum users.

Remove NEWS now.

The second to last thing I want is News on my PLEX dashboard. The last thing I want is for that news to be primarily sourced from the purveyors of #FakeNews or a bunch of EU leaning leftists. If I want to find out about a hurricane in Louisiana, the last source I’ll turn to is some libtard in France or Germany who doesn’t know where Louisiana is.

Please keep your political views to yourself and calling folks from France and Germany libtards doesn’t help especially when more fellow Americans wont be able to find Louisiana on a map compared to our fellow European counterparts.

News is attached to your Plex user log in. So if you only watch media from your local PMS and do not use the Home feature, you can add the IP address of the Roku to your Plex Media Server and just not log into your Plex account on that Roku.

Just be aware that requests from those IP addresses are treated as the admin, so adding the IP address and not logging in would be like using the full admin account for that PMS server.

Plex has spent millions on the News feature. Nobody ever asked for it but you got it anyways. Damn the Plex bugs and the lack of live TV support. But what the hell at least we got News. Whoever is running this dog and pony show should have a check-up from the neck-up.

Plex magical list shows people asking for news so how do you know no one asked for it (even though they never share us this information)? We can only guess almost no one asked for it. Did anyone ever create a feature request for it?

Unlikely - if they did it would have been ignored - so clearly that didn’t happen.

Plex is doomed! I swear I think Microsoft bought it.

@DTrace I didn’t state my political views. I stated the political bias of predominantly all of the media outlets available in the PLEX feed. Are you suggesting that CBS, CNN, France24 and German Welle aren’t liberally biased media outlets? Your snarky comments about Americans tells everyone exactly where you stand. Liberailism is a mental disorder and you have it. I called out the biased political idoeology of the news sources. You mocked your fellow Americans. That makes you the asswagon. Don’t you dare pontificate to me, you self-righteous POS.

I am not suggesting anything regarding any News outlet as I generally stay away from them since each are biased on way or another. Things have become toxic no matter what your views/biases are.

Also the statement regarding fellow americans being geographically illiterate has been known for a while. I do hope things do get better.

Anyways we are off topic here. There are several other threads about removing News channel feel free to like/vote on the feature request page.

Just switch to Emby they don’t have news. They got cool stuff like a program guide, watch and record at the same time, FF, pause and rewind, Apps with live TV. You know, all the stuff Plex should have but doesn’t.

Not much has changed here in WV in the last 200 years, but rural Americans don’t hold a monopoly on ‘Pea Brain Syndrome’. I will fully admit there were few choices in a recent election - so few in fact that you were screwed no matter what you did - but the fact remains a card carrying idiot (one of the two to choose from) is now the commander in chief. Leaves a nasty taste in the mouth, doesn’t it?

If you think ‘voting’ for the removal of news makes ANY DIFFERENCE to Plex - you are much more compromised mentally than ANY toothless redneck in ANY of these great states!

lol true…one can wish though that Plex, the company, would try to listen a bit more to its users. Its competitor seems to be doing just that. Also had to try to diffuse the situation without adding more gas to the fire.

Funniest dam thing I’ve read on these forums for a LONG time.

Made me feel right at home…

lol

I’d like to remove the news too!

Let me remove it please. I want my libraries clean… MY Libraries. Don’t be adding a Library i can’t remove. Not being able to remove it out of the gate is just WRONG! They should be using dev time to FIX all the issues they have with the clients and server across all platforms. But no… instead waste time giving its user base the option to watch the news without the option to remove it.
