How do you get episode names and info for Star Trek Original series?

PLEX recognizes the seasons but does not give the episode names or episode info. Any ideas?

Make sure you have your file structure and naming correct and it should recognize it just fine.
TV Shows <- library
Star Trek <- series folder
Season 01 (02, etc. . . ) season folder
Star Trek - S01E01 - The Man Trap <-episode name
Star Trek -S02E01 - Amok Time
Star Trek - S03E01 - Spock’s Brain

The original pilot is listed as a special and should go in it’s own season folder.
Specials <- folder (instead of Season)
Star Trek - S00E01 - The Cage (original pilot)

That should work. . . unless TVDB is down or something weird is going on.

Just set up a test folder and it seems to be working fine.

It took far longer to get screenshots and upload theme here than it did to set up the show on Plex, but at least we know it should work. If you are trying to do the whole series, you might wanna try a file renamer like filebot; which can rename the whole show in a few seconds.

be sure to surround the ‘dash’ with spaces (the typo for E02)… :wink:

In case the files are MP4/M4V - and have bogus embedded metadata in the Title Fields, Plex will read this info and prefer it over a perfect file name/structure, but you can combat that situation by moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of every agent list you can find. All tabs in TV Show and Movies here:

Just drag LMA to the bottom of the list and drop it. If you do have embedded metadata this will cure the issue, if you don’t it won’t matter. LMA will do what it has to from the bottom.

Renaming/restructuring is best performed OUTSIDE the library and you’ll need to write a new bundle for the show so The Plex Dance® was invented:

  1. remove show/movie from library
  2. update library
  3. empty trash
  4. clean bundles
