# How Does Auto-sync Subtitles Work?

When I check-mark auto-sync subtitles on the Subtitles screen and choose a subtitle, the subtitles are still out of sync. I have tried several of the OpenSubtitle files on the search screen. None of them are synced to the video. How is auto-sync subtitles supposed to work?

One more thing, OttoKerner. The requirements say you must have a Plex Pass subscription for the server admin. I have a lifetime Plex Pass, but how do I know if it includes a subscription for server admin?

The “Plex Media Server admin account” is the account that has claimed the server. The one displayed in [Settings](https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/web/general) → Server\_Name → General (Server claimed by \<email\_address\>).

If it is your server, claimed by you, with an account with a Plex Pass, then you’re good to go.
