I’ve seen tons of posts about people not being able to get their Plex remote access with a VPN and rather than post to all of them and look like a spam bot I decided to put it here. There are a lot of work arounds and complicated ways for people that don’t have a VPN with bypass or port forward/tunneling. I had this problem as well with IPVanish and NordVPN, and this solution will work for all vpn providers. I can only explain for Windows.

First go to [https://dev.thronic.com/VPN-Bypass/](https://dev.thronic.com/VPN-Bypass/) and download VPNBypass.
I do not own this software. I just found it useful.
(Edited March 2, 2020 the website changed)

Install it and run it
You will get to this screen after you open it

Notice The highlighted areas…

In the top one you need to individually add
[my.plexapp.com](http://my.plexapp.com)
[plexapp.com](http://plexapp.com)
[plex.tv](http://plex.tv)
[app.plex.tv](http://app.plex.tv)

You may also need to add these addresses that Plex changes randomly. This is a link to their list from the Remote access trouble shooting page.

[Plex IP Links](https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/plex-sidekiq-servers-list/sidekiqIPs.txt)

In the next one labled Target Gateway IP you put in your Router’s IP address.
Then you click restart service after it turns yellow for update.

If you want this to run at startup you can put it in the windows startup folder or you can run it as a hidden scheduled task. If you do the hidden task, you won’t see it running except in task manager. If you run it in a startup folder it will run and need minimized to taskbar (NOT TRAY) after it launches at boot.
