# How to control users access to settings

Hi all experts,
I’m pretty new to all this Plex stuff, and even more new to creating users etc.
My problem:
We want to create a new user, let’s call him Bart, my account is named Homer 😉
Homer does not have a pin on his account.
So, how can I prevent that Bart is switching account and deleting everything?
I know I could “just” put a pincode on it, but then Homer and his wife need to press this pincode everytime they use the app.
Is there anyway, without the pincode, I could prevent this?
Another way is to, rename Homer to “Administrator”, and put a pincode on that user. But then Administrator is the only user how can plan recordings…
I can’t see a perfect way to do. IMO the perfect way would be, if Bart logs in, he would not be able to switch user.
Bart is having his on plex account, he logs in with his own password.
So, how do I prevent Bart from ■■■■■■■ my setup up?😛
Or is there any other good sugestions?

If you don’t want to pin your administrator account, the only way to keep Bart out is to not have Bart be a part of your Plex Home. If they already have their own Plex account (not managed user), then simply remove them from Plex Home and keep them as a Friend. They will then not get the fast user switcher that comes along with Plex Home.

That’s true,
But then they aren’t getting the benefits of plex pass.
So that’s not a solution 😉

Then setting a PIN for the admin account is unfortunately your only option at that point. If you use Plex Home Fast User Switching is enabled.

That’s bad, in my opinion…
Because then Bart would potential be able to login to Homer’s account, and start messing stuff up. Right?

It’s entirely possible and should influence your decision on whether or not you use that feature.
For me, if I can’t trust a user to not purposely mess up my stuff (or even if I have an inkling they will) they are not invited into my Plex Home which only really has my immediate household. They can be a regular friend or they can go without access. They can still sync movies if you enable it for them, but they don’t free access to the apps. I’m not saying I 100% agree with the implementation in all cases, but that is how it is currently. Take it or leave it at the moment. If you don’t like it, find a feature request that is related or make your own if there isn’t one.
