Currently, I'm not able to play 4k content from my nas drive, ask other content works fine. Has anyone else experience anything similar and can share their experience? I have synology 215j, both nas and shield TV are hooked Ethernet to the router.

There's already a thread for this problem: http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/277598/plex-is-trying-to-transcode-4k-hevc-files-instead-of-direct-play
A Plex dev participated and said there will be a fix!

Are you sure it's the same issue...the OP never mentioned a transcoding issue.

To the OP...if the above s the issue then there you go. If it's a networking issue (you mentioned your hardware and how it's connected) then can you check if you're able to play the file via another app...such as Kodi or vlc?

Also, is your network gigabit...for example, my ISP (sky) gave me a terrible router with only has 100mbit ethernet. If this is your problem then buy yourself a better router or get a gigabit switch and connect everything to that and then connect that to your router.

Cheers,
