# How to use the new API Path parameter?

Recently I saw this on the path notes:  
(API) Add `path` parameter in scanning endpoint to allow partial scan via API.

Does anyone have a working url sample for this. I have been looking but haven’t found.

I was told that  
to use that new parameter you need to make a call like:  
`http://127.0.0.1:32400/library/sections/:sectionId/refresh?path=D:\Videos\Movie1&X-Plex-Token=:yourToken`  
Where `:sectionId` is the id of your library and `path` is the full path to the specific path inside that library you want scanned.  
An [admin token](https://support.plex.tv/articles/204059436-finding-an-authentication-token-x-plex-token/) needs to be passed too in place of `:yourToken`

If you use this from a script or app, you need to URLencode the path as well (if you put it into a browser address bar, this will be done automatically)
