Hi Guys,
I am not sure this is the right forum but I decided to reach out as I am desperate. 4 Days ago I decided to run a 3rd party app called "Humble Plex ". I have used it before to rename media files on my server so all have the same look and info ( Title. Year. Container). When I ran it I used the exact same setting as I have done several times before…Well I almost threw up when I discovered about 1300 movies had been renamed the exact same (Original. Year. Container). I quickly launched Plex Web and was relieved to find that all the meta date was still attached to the individual media.
So I have a choice…I can either launch 1300 movies individual, read the title and rename it from “Original” to the correct title. Or I can hope and pray that there might be an app or software that can scan the file and re-tag it ?. I have looked/ Googled but have not found anything…Any advise (other than don’t be so stupid again) ??. I truly appreciate any suggestions…

Filebot works great for renaming movies, TV, and music. to the Plex standards
I am familiar with FileBot but this software does not solve my problem. I have over a 1000 media files ALL named the same : ORIGINAL (year).MKV or AVi etc. FileBot will not be able to analyze the media and identify what the title of the movie is or am I wrong???. Is there a way I can “reverse” trace the individual movie from Plex to the directory/ folder that contains the individual media?. My only option seems to have to sit for hours. start each movie on my PC and change the file once I identify the title…I am so screwed on this one…
I used an app in the past to do the exact same thing for mp3 files that had metadata but were all named just by track number and it worked. It was called Tag&Rename (http://www.softpointer.com/tr.htm) but it’s only for mp3 files. At least you see there are tools that can do that.
What I had more in mind was to pull the info back out of Plex’s database and using that for a series of rename commands to run in a batch file to rename the files back to what they were.
However, I’d like to see a sample of the directory structure as it stands now to know if this will work for him or not.
THANK YOU ALL !!. I had a friend write a simple command script that matched the media files to the Plex database info…all but 28 have been re-named and I am a happy man !
