# HW Transcoding not working

Hi  
I took the plunge and went plex pass as my sister has been having a bad time and plex just plays the original quality file at all of my upload speed 10mbps

I have the 390 drivers for nvidia but plex doesn’t seam to use it at all. just sits idle. I know it can only transcode 2 streams and this is fine however its not working at all.

Hardware  
Linux Ubuntu Server 18.04 LTS  
CPU: i7 3770 4c/8T  
Ram: 16gb  
Boot Drive: 240gb Crucial SSD  
Transcode Drive: 240gb Crucial SSD ( Mounted in /home/servername/Transcoder/ ) which i hope is done right its is in sata3 and i can transfer files to it over the network at 120mb/s or the full 1gbps network speed.  
Nvidia 1050TI 4gb

Requires Nvidia 418 or higher drivers.

sudo apt install nvidia-driver-418 nvidia-settings to run
