I have been trying to update to the latest version but am having an issue. I update the server using the guide and it shows as the latest version when it restarts however when the server is rebooted it reverts back to version 1.3.3.3148 and any library updated are gone.
You do not use docker and you just updated with apt-get and you do not confuse the version of the web client (3.7.0 at this moment) with the version of the server, right? Please post the server logs.
Thanks for the help.
Not sure what you mean by using the docker but it is definitely not the web client version and I am updating using putty and āapt-getā. The server is updating to version 1.5.whatever the latest is then when I reboot it reverts back to 1.3.3. Any library updates also revert if I reboot. It is as if it is being over written by a previous backup or not remembering settings. I will try and update again tomorrow and post the server logs.
I Managed to get to the bottom of the issue. It was the SD card that was corrupted with the issue detailed below.
After a total unsuccess of plexmediaplayer, old versions, arm7 armel⦠and now testing the last plex 1.5.6.3790, not working the plugin tvheadend-ng, automatically says āthere is a problem with this mediaā, before, with old versions, I was able to play HD channels but not powerful enough server and stops, sd channels never begin to play⦠I dont know, I have installed all codec on Pi3, and nothing works. I will try will rasplex, as the last chance, and no more tests with pi3, really frustrating, hardware is not able to play anything with fluency, I dont talk about media library, I talk about Live TV shows.
Regards.

Definitely configuration issues. My media center is a Raspberry2 and I have no complaints about it (Plex as offline Media Center, live streams via streamlink or aceproxy).
Obviously with such hardware, the key is in not transcoding video at all (remuxing and audio transcoding works as a charm), or go with the VPU optimized ffmpeg version to offload the CPUs as last resort (which I never had to do).
Well, what a difficulty, debian and windows yes, like a charm, RPI3 is so difficult, I will send it through my flat window, there is no so parameters to touch, and crashes at the moment⦠maybe some rpi-update has been wrong for it. And you have read I am trying with TV Live, not with media libraries⦠well okā¦then I am in an error to continue with RPI3⦠I am the error in fact.

even not transcoding, plex make some transcode to adapt the source to the client. which version of plexmediaserver are you using? with old versions where transcode engine is not broken, it must work, but in the last version, if you can try the tvheadend-ng.bundle, could you tell me if does it work? you have to run tvheadend inside or outside rpi⦠in the case you use it, can you tell me if it works on your rpi2 and the plex version do you have installed, please?
thank you
excuse me @uglymagoo , some days ago I wanted to install old plex versions on rpi3. Now I discover the dvr and live tv⦠and they only work full feature with minium 1.7.2 plex version. the last update on dev2day is 1.5.6. 3790. I have seen the release on rpi is the ros6.annapurna arm6, this is a release I installed manually some weeks ago on 0.9.16.2 version. It would be possible to offer 1.7.2 plex version for rpi2-3 on your repository? I would like to hear positive news from you.
thank you!!

1.7.2 is Plex Pass only at this moment. With Plex Pass you will find the link to this release in the my thread in the Plex Pass section of this forum. 1.5.6 is the most recent public release.
@uglymagoo with Raspberry moving from Jessie to Stretch, is updating your apt source to Stretch needed? (I saw that dev2day has a Stretcht repository but the plex deb in there seems to be the same as in the Jessie one)
Thx.

Itās not required, but recommended. I myself always have a bad feeling when I have to use repos that are not really designed for my system. However, the Jessie and Stretch packages will be identical for the foreseeable future, so itās just cosmetics atm.
@uglymagoo The latest 1.7.5 on RPI2 doesnāt work (at least for me and I think thereās a separate thread for it as well) - always fails with a āTranscoder Crashedā message. I wanted to downgrade to 1.5.x or something like that but donāt find it in your packages list. Please would you help out.

Sadly, 1.7.5 is very unstable on any platform. Here is 1.5.7.
Only time I find it to be a bother is on a fresh install, your script creates the default/plexmediaserver and I created the plexmediaserver.service.d/override.conf, Man it took me a long time to realize that the āunable to connectā was caused by this mistake. But the reason I used the new way is because of random connection problem I was experencing.
Anyway I guess this wasnāt to quick after allā¦
Iām still using the old LSB init script because there hasnāt been a need to switch to systemd (LSB compatibility in systemd in Debian and Ubuntu). But you are right, maybe it is time to ask @ChuckPA for permission to use the official systemd service files
