I figured out how to select songs & make a playlist, but I saw that it’s possible to do a smart playlist, but we have to use a filter. I don’t see a filter option anywhere. Help!
For a regular playlist, you manually add songs/videos to an existing (or newly created playlist). With a smart playlist, Plex will use the given filter and sorting within your current view.
Example:
- Enter your movies library
- set a filter to e.g. movies with ACTOR Brad Pitt
- optionally sort the view by RELEASE DATE
- click Add to Playlistand set a new Playlist name
When you now add a new movie wie Brad Pitt, it’ll show in this playlist.
If you want some more complex filtering, use the custom filter which allows multiple filter criteria at the same time.
This doesn’t work because I’m using it for music & don’t see any filters option. Where is the Filter button/option?
For music you’ll have different filter options – however the web ui looks pretty much the same.
You can find a set of support articles on how to use the Plex Web user frontend in the Plex support pages: https://support.plex.tv/articles/categories/plex-media-server/using-plex-web-app/
Check out in particular the support article on Using the Library View.
