# I keep getting this error "There was an unexpected error loading this library"

This started for me last week. I recently started changing my folder locations in Plex to the corresponding share, so instead of A://Severfolders/Movies its now \myservername\Movies. I thought everything was going well till I started to notice Plex was locking up and groups of TV shows now have red trash cans on them. If I look at the folder through Plex it still has the drive folder location and not the share folder info. When I try to delete and re-add the folder through Plex it just locks up. I tried scanning the “Library Files”,but I get the same result or this error pops up “There was an unexpected error loading this library” actually anytime it scanning now this error pops up.

I’ve just installed Plex on a new Windows 10 device, and I’m getting the same thing. Until now I’ve been running my Plex server on a Macbook and it’s been great, and because the error report includes no detail I haven’t a clue what might be the problem.

Having a similar issue. Ubuntu 20.04.1 fresh install.
Movies are in /mnt/medialibrary/movies with permissions set according to [https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288596-linux-permissions-guide/](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200288596-linux-permissions-guide/)
Really frustrated with this.

Yep me too. Was doing a custom filter on a library and got the error message. I can view the library fine on the Nvidia Shield app (also where the server is), and via the web browser app, but on my Mac it won’t display it. Have uninstalled and reinstalled the app, stopped the server on the Nvidia, restarted the Nvidia and started the server up again. Nothing works. So frustrating.

I had the same problem and came here looking for answers. I did not find any but I was able to fix the problem on my own. So, hopefully this helps someone else. Go to settings, Debug, and click “Restore Defaults” All Plex Media Player settings and customization will be reset and restored to their default state. This worked for me.

I hope this helps someone as I had the same issue. How I fixed it was running a search for a movie I knew I had. It appeared at the bottom of the search and played when I clicked on it. This seemed to repair the library issue and all working again. Hope it works for you guys.
