I just want to share that we have heard your request to return the IMBb/TMDb IDs in the new metadata agent and are discussing this within the team.

In case you where not aware, the switch the new plex://guids is the way the new metadata provider works as it handles the merging of multiple metadata sources (IMDb, TMDb, Rotten Tomatoes, etc), and then providing this rich metadata back to PMS as a single source eg plex://. This also considerably speeds up matching as your local PMS does not have to handle all the individual requests to make this happen, instead it just matches once and gets rich metadata.

We are constantly improving this new metadata provider and you will continue to see changes and improvements as time goes on. Some of the already added improvements are, auto collection data for PMS, more localisation options, and improving ratings.

+1 for at least having the external IDs accessible. I completely understand normalized data as this does in fact make scraping faster.

Would only be fair to provide all the IDs from the respective metadata sources, so that people can keep integrating them in their tools.

My proposal is not necessarily to include the IDs in the metadata (although that would be awesome), but a endpoint that takes the plex:// id and returns the ids from the sources

Iā€™d be happy with a second endpoint to call which will take the new Plex guid and provide me with a list of external IDs.
