# Incorrect Metadata for a Show

Server Version#: 1.41.8.9834
Show is “Underdogs” - data is correct on TheTVDB. The show information is correct in Plex, but the season 1/episode information is incorrect.

Allow at least 72 hours after entering the data on TheTVDB or TheMovieDB.

Umm, that’s not the issue here. I didn’t edit TheTVDB, it was already correct.

Is there any way to “browse” Plex’s (the company) metadata so that I can see/verify that it is incorrect there?

Which language is selected in the library properties?
Which episode ordering is selected in the library properties?
Which episode ordering is selected in the properties of the show?
Did you tick “use original title”?
Are the files in mp4 format? And if so, do you have “prefer local metatags” enabled? (you might wanna disable that if you want Plex to use its own metadata)

I just added the files normally. Only thing I tried doing originally was change the episode ordering to TheTVDB, but that didn’t work. I just set it back to normal, did the [plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064), and the episodes are still coming in wrong.

Make sure that only the folder `/plex3/ADLT/shows` has been added to the library.
Add at least the release year of S01E01 to the folder name. – i.e. `Underdogs (2025)`
It’s in the file naming guidelines, but you don’t have it there.

The two TVDB IDs are merged in Plex’s database. The metadata team needs to go in a separate them.

If you want to work around it temporarily, you can switch your show to The Movie Database episode order.

Still, add in the release year, anyway. There are many shows and movies by that title. You can’t expect to get a correct match if you don’t provide at least the year.

How did you get that view with the GUID for the show and the corresponding imdb/tvdb/etc?
Also, thanks for the suggestion regarding TMDB, that fixed the issue for now. Didn’t think to try a Movie database for a Show.

View the XML data for the show on your server.

But the link is only there for episodes, then you need to switch the `ratingKey` number in the address bar from the episode to the show.
