Hi all,

New to Raspberry Pi @ Rasplex

My questions:

- Is RasPlex a Plex Server or only a client?

- I installed Rasplex 0.51 on Pi B+ and not able to add content from my hard drive

- But when my PlexServer was active from my PC, Rasplex was able to detect and show the info which is not what I want

I wanted to install Rasplex on my Raspberry Pi with a goal to have my Pi as the main Plex server where I could connect my hard drive and access via iPhone app or via PC also to cast to TV (via Chromecast)

IS this possible?

I just copied this from the rasplex.com home page. I'm pretty new to Plex, so I don't have enough experience to be very helpful. But, in the absence of any other replies, I thought I'd provide some input. I intend to set up a Rasplex, as well, and I always understood it to be a client.

The perfect client companion to the [Plex Media Server](http://plexapp.com/getplex/), the Raspberry Pi mini computer becomes the perfect appliance for viewing your media on every TV in your home.

RasPlex is the client (the player). You still need a server to serve your media.

Rasplex is just a client. A Raspberry 1 isn't powerful enough to run a plex media server.

Some people seem to have had some succes running a PMS on a Raspberry Pi 2, but it will be a kludge. The USB drives with the limited data bus aren't going to provide a great experience.
