Issue: Music Ratings and Collections

So, I’m noticing that if you rate a music track, that music track receives the same rating on all albums where the track is found. Mostly makes sense, but sometimes the tracks are a tad different, however that might be a side topic.

The topic here is an issue when you attempt to create a playlist or collection using track ratings. Let’s say you want a playlist of your 5-star tracks. Let’s also so that a few of your 5-star tracks appear on multiple albums. Well, the playlist or collection will now contain the same track multiple times.

Since the ratings are automatically carried across albums, there isn’t an easy way to remove the multiple tracks.

No one else finds this to be a problem?

Your not the only one but I suspect we are in the minority who see it as a problem → Build a Smart Playlist based off Track Rating with secondary filter to remove Duplicates?

Have a look at my last comment which might be a workaround for you and I quote it here also …

Interestingly, I noticed today that if duplicate tracks exist on a playlist selecting to shuffle the playlist removes the duplicates !

I also spun up this feature suggestion → Add Duplicate to Advanced Filters so Multiple same track results can be Filtered but kinda feel like I’m talking to myself sometimes

Glad to see I’m not the only one finding this to be a problem. I added my vote to your request.

I have the same issue. I have 2 Plex servers. I am replacing Personal Cloud 1.28.1.6104 with MyCloud 1.29.1.6316 and I have to manually update the Meta data which is a pain because there is not an upgrade path to replace old servers. Anyway, the Personal Cloud keeps all the Music Rating separate from each other, where as the MyCloud changes the star ratings across albums. This leads me to believe there is a way to turn this feature on and off but I haven’t found the setting.
