Jellystone episode list is a bit wrong. Originally, the first season was 10 dual-episodes, with a single double length episode, for a total of 11 episodes (files). Seasons 2 and 3 are separate single episodes (files), so I suspect TVDB went out and changed season 1 to separate episodes as well.
The issue is that TVDB lists 21 episodes for Season 1, and I have conformed my media to fit their organization. However, Plex still uses dual-episodes for episodes 1-10 (with the season finale 11), so my first 11 episodes are incorrect. I checked, and while my library is set to use TVDB, I also explicitly set the show to use TVDB, and it is still incorrect. Isn’t Plex supposed to support different names and episode numbers when TVDB and TMDB differ?

Alas, its only supported when there is linkage between tmdb and the corresponding entries at tvdb. There are some very rare shows where plex has hacked their own metadata to link stuff but these are rare.
I took a look and mid 2024 one of the mods at tmdb removed some of the episode links to tvdb due to the fact that as you state tmdb use dual naming for some episodes where tvdb don’t so there is no 1-1 episode linkage.
Unfortunately unless someone from plex fixes this on their side I personally see this likely to be never fixed if your using tvdb episode ordering. Maybe I’ll be proved wrong.
Think your best bet is to just use tmdb episode ordering as that will likely give you the best metadata match. You might also want to consider nfo support when that drops as that would also workaround this limitation.

Well, until it comes, well, so far this is the only show I have the issue for that I know of. If I cared enough about it, I’d put in custom metadata for the first 11 episodes manually.
