# Latest update version crashing Plex

The new update version of Plex server “1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59” has crashed our Plex server completely. We are running the Plex server on an old iMac mini i7 quad core with OS X version 10.9.5. I know it’s an older machine but it has always worked perfectly and never given us a moments problem.
The only way I was able to get it back up and running was to roll back to the pervious version :1.24.4.5081-e362dc1ee
by replacing the “contents” package with the previous one stored in “~/Library”
The actual server error was : When trying to access the Plex server after the update, the Google web browser would open with a “500 Server access error” and the main Plex server was completely unaccessible. It also was not working or talking to any of the devices and apple TV’s at all on the network at all.
We are MASSIVE Plex supporters and use it daily in our home. It’s an outstanding product and I am just trying to contribute with feedback as a community member. Thank you for all your hard work it is greatly appreciated!

I am also running Plex Media Server on an ancient Mac mini running OS X 10.9.5 and the latest update causes it to crash constantly (usually when browsing from another device, during which time most of the item thumbnails are missing, and media won’t play). I also had to rollback to the previous version. I checked the Console and there’s hundreds of these messages before each crash:

I’m guessing the last update adopted a newer API that’s not available on older versions of OS X.

Yup, looks like it was added in 10.10: [Apple Developer Documentation](https://developer.apple.com/documentation/foundation/nsurl/1416404-urlbyresolvingaliasfileaturl)
The [Media Server Download page](https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/) still lists OS X 10.9 as being supported.

I accidentally confirmed a server update last night. The problem still persists in Plex Media Server version 1.25.0.5282-2edd3c44d on OS X 10.9.5. Is anyone from Plex looking at these forums? Is there a better place to report show-stopping bugs?
