The Plex app in the LG content store has not been updated since 2024. Please fix this.

The app was last updated in March (2026).

I believe the LG app is mostly a stub that’ll load the latest smart tv app from the internet. So that stub not being updated since 2024 shouldn’t worry you.

It’s not the “new Plex experience” definitely.

- 2024: 13 (!!) updates
- 2025: 7 months later, after the last update in november '24, 1 update
- 2026: 9 months later, 1 update
And those updates in 2025+2026 were not really big changes, although I much appreciate the AV1 support…

When will the “new experience app” be released for Lg TVs?

I already started migrating to Emby. I have an LG G4 and an a bit older Samsung, no real updates to both Plex-apps since like forever.

It is a bit more work to migrate, as the media mapping is a bit weaker. But for me around +85% were detected fine, the webOS app works smoothly for my requirements!
As I have Plex Lifetime, I keep it as backup for the very few occasions Emby is not as good, but its worth it.

As I honestly really like Plex in general, I might go back to it if they fix it sometime… but if Emby keeps up, I maybe wont.

I’ve looked at Emby too but wondered how much of a problem it would be in using it over plex. It would just be nice for Plex to update the experience like they do for their Roku, Fire stick etc apps. I like using the built in TV apps vs having to plug in everything else to the TV.

It works for me as desired in around 90% of my use cases and is worked on, nice GUI too
For the few occasions it doesnt, I have Plex as a backup 😉

the laughable thing is, [https://github.com/GLinnik21/plx-native](https://github.com/GLinnik21/plx-native) is an alternative TV-app for Plex
The guy created the repository in July and the first version was released in August. He did with Claude-code in 3 months, what Plex is failing to deliver for Samsung and LG for 2 years…
Ofcourse its not perfect yet, but as invested as he is it might be very good in 1-2 months
