LG WebOs 4.5 IT - Plex stuck on authenticatication code window

Server Version#:
Player Version#:

Hello, I have installed the latest version of PLEX from the LG repository on my 2020 TV running Web OS 4.5.x Italian.
After the authorization code process, if I restart Plex, it keeps on getting stuck on the code window.
If I check the authorized devices on another device, the TV is among the authorized devices.
What is happening? Should I restart from scratch, re-installing the app and going through the authorization process again?
Thanks!

Yes, please remove your device from your account and try re-installing the app and signing in again. Hopefully this will go away with a fresh start.

Did it again. Didn’t work. Seems like I’m caught in a loop.
I am using a Google account to log in. Could it be interfering?
Thanks

PS - I tried watching a film without logging in. It started.

Damn this is so frustrating.

The new app looks amazing but, why do I have a new version without having updated my app?!

Client:

  • LG 55C7V OLED TV
  • webos 05.80.55
  • v 5.1.0 (client version)
  • v 3.8.0 (platform version)

Server:

  • Synology NAS
  • v 1.19.5.3112

I tried to:

  • Log in - fails, stuck with an infinite spinner after linking account
  • Remove device, readd - no change
  • Remove device, uninstall app, … - no change
  • Previous steps + shutdown TV - no change

And I’m not able to opt out or switch back to the previous working version.

We are doing some investigation into this internally, but the quickest way to get the app back to a usable state would be to do a factory reset on the TV. Sadly uninstalling the Plex app on a LG TV does not fully clear out the data.

Just a heads up, factory resetting the TV will uninstall your other apps and any other settings you have made changes to.

That’s quite harsh… Will wait for a fix. Thanks for keeping us posted.

Can you try unplugging your TV for a few minutes before starting the app again? I’ve got some users that said this fixes the issue with the app getting stuck or settings not saving.

I can confirm that this worked for me. Been trying for the past day or two now.

Okay I just tried this one. Steps:

  • Remove link Plex account <> TV
  • Uninstall Plex from TV
  • Shutdown and remove power for 5 minutes (to be sure)
  • Replug, restart
  • Install Plex on TV
  • Login, link to Plex account

Everything worked well, thanks.

It seems that it flush a memory when powered off.
