When streaming videos on my LG TV, the audio cuts out for a second or two. This continuously happens every minute or two. My workaround is to disable Direct Play and Direct Stream.
This does not happen when streaming the same content using the Plex App (version 1.37.0.2706-5b2cfe50) from my Intel Nuc running windows 10 connected to the same TV using HDMI.
I have an update. It appears that the issue only happens with content encoded with EAC3 5.1 audio. When the content is encoded with AAC stereo audio, the problem does not occur.
I believe I have the same problem with Samsung TV QN90A. Plex Server on Windows 10 in local LAN PC.
The case is DTS-HD => aac (dca => aac) with no transcoding for video which results of course in Direct Stream.
Audio drops out for seconds, even minutes, then comes back for seconds, then drops out again… absolutely unwatchable. Debug logs from TV say nothing at all.
2021 top end TV with “official” Plex app, 21st century!
Extremely annoyed how many bugs this app has - 5.29.1.
And I can’t believe I’m considering Plex Lifetime Pass…
A better workaround is to go into settings from the main Plex Screen (lower left on my LG TV) and select Audio. I then disabled EAC3 & DTS. I hope Plex fixes the issue with their LG App.
I opened the topic and have an LG OLED TV with drop outs. My original configuration had 3 HDMI cables daisy chained together. One from the receiver to the wall, one in the wall, and on from the wall to the TV. I replaced all of them with a single high speed HDMI cable, and that resolved my issue.
