Server Version#: newest version - server up to date
Player Version#:

I’ve been having an issue with my Plex server for about six or seven months now. I I have four separate hard drives plugged into my computer and four different movie folders, and none of them will recognize any new movies or TV shows that are added to it. I may have tried renaming things are in that didn’t work, recently I realized that my server and Mac operating system were very out of date so I updated both of those to the most current version and that didn’t fix the problem either. Yesterday I removed a file path on one of my hard drives to see what would happen and all the movies within it disappeared, and then after re-adding the exact same file path and doing a library scan none of the movies that had previously been working just fine will show back up and I don’t know what to do.

I have been using flex for years with no issues prior to this, but I am at my wits end. I will admit that I am not the most savvy Plex user, but it has always worked without issue for me up until this problem started. I just saw the “[Plex dance](https://forums.plex.tv/t/the-plex-dance/197064)” info on another post so I will try that, but any other help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

Have you given PMS permissions to external drives? In `System Prefs > Security & Privacy`, then under `Files and Folders` you can give it permissions to removable volumes (external drives), or under `Full Disk Access` you can give it permission to everything.

It looks a bit different depending on how recent your Mac OS version is.

Unfortunately it already had access to the removable volumes, and even after granting it full disk access it still isn’t recognizing anything new.

then likely will need to see the [server logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) after a “scan for files” to see what is going on

As requested, [server logs](https://support.plex.tv/articles/200250417-plex-media-server-log-files/) after a library scan just completed a few minutes ago. Hopefully this provides some type of answer, I dont know enough about looking through these logs to find anything myself. Thank you for your help, BigWheel!

You can either try to [repair the database](https://support.plex.tv/articles/repair-a-corrupted-database/) or it may be easier to [restore a database backup](https://support.plex.tv/articles/202485658-restore-a-database-backed-up-via-scheduled-tasks/). Generally a backup will not be made if the DB is corrupt, so you don’t end up with corrupt backups, so if the dates of the back ups seem old that may be why.

Oh man, thank you SO much! My wife was at the point of making me cancel our Plex pass because it hasn’t updated since about March or April. And while I wasn’t able to fix or even restore my database, I was able to delete it and start over which is just as good of a solution at this point. Again, I really appreciate your help. You have no idea how frustrated I have been with this!
