# Library ad detection with no tuner?

The “Removing Commercials” article says,

> It’s also possible to enable the commercial detection to run for content in a regular TV library that was not recorded with the Plex DVR.

That’s great, because I have a pile of recordings transcoded from my Tablo DVR. The only thing missing is Tablo’s own commercial skip feature.

However, I can’t seem to enable the Plex DVR and Ad Detection feature without a tuner. Is there a workaround?

I’m running Plex Server 1.23.6.4881 on a Mac, with a Plex Pass.

Unfortunately, this is a requirement.

> 1. Have a Plex DVR set up and configured on your Plex Media Server

OK… what is my cheapest alternative for a tuner (Mac) that I will not actually use? 😉

There is a 3rd party program out there called Xteve that fakes being a tuner. You could try installing that.
