Adding Library for Documentaries will be very useful, where we can add both Single or Series type documentaries under one Library.

I guess the problem is that one documentary might be considered a movie while another is considered a TV show. And unless something has changed you must choose one of those while setting up a library and thus not getting matches for all documentaries.

My doc library is set up as a movie library and it works in most cases but sometimes I have to do some manual work to get it right.

So while a dedicated documentary library that scans for both movies and shows wouldn’t help _me_ all that much I can still see the problem.

If there is a way to make plex search through databases for both movies and shows then yes, there’s really no need for a documentary library.

But is that possible?

Even if it is possible one argument for having a documentary library is so that it by default do just that, which makes it easier for the user.

Another reason for another library type is that when I add a new documentary to my library it comes up under “recently added movies”. It would be better if it came up under “recently added documentaries”.

Again, I don’t care much about this, I would rather see that the development resources put elsewhere but I do see the point n having more library types, or at least having more ways to configure existing libraries. (Maybe there is and I’m just to lazy to search for it.)

This request essentially boils down to “allow both movies and tv shows within the same library”. Which is already an existing feature request.
