Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 Player Version#: 1.112.0.359-0d79a49f The Linux desktop player application does not have any media key support. This has been a long-standing issue, and I’m curious why. I’ve seen several topics about this. - [Media keys on Linux](https://forums.plex.tv/t/media-keys-on-linux/909335) (2025) - [https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-desktop-for-linux-does-not-support-keyboard-media-keys/857043](https://forums.plex.tv/t/plex-desktop-for-linux-does-not-support-keyboard-media-keys/857043) (2023) - [https://forums.plex.tv/t/htpc-flatpak-and-media-keys-support/826414](https://forums.plex.tv/t/htpc-flatpak-and-media-keys-support/826414) (2023) - [https://forums.plex.tv/t/voted-plex-media-player-media-control-keys-support/532226](https://forums.plex.tv/t/voted-plex-media-player-media-control-keys-support/532226) (2020) Someone even made a Qt wrapper for the web interface so that they can get media key support - [https://github.com/aknobloch/QtPlex](https://github.com/aknobloch/QtPlex) Why is this still an issue after so many years? It’s a minor inconvenience, the web player has no problem with media keys, but the web player is not good for directly playing content without transcoding. ---
