"Live TV" and "Discovery" are forced on my home page. Unable to hide/remove

Android Player Version#: 2025.11.1
I ONLY want to see my media. The new experience is FORCING people to keep “Live TV” and “Discovery” on my home page. We need a way to hide these categories!!
Also the New app does Not remember previous tabs. I want it remember where I left off like the old app used to do. Plex should be for my home media and nothing else. That’s what I paid for!!

This is two releases back (we’ve had 2025.12.0 and now 2025.13.0). Version 2025.13.0, released yesterday, addresses both of your concerns (see the “NEW” section of the release notes).

They’re performing a staged rollout, so you might not have the most recent release available yet. But check in the Play Store to see if there are any updates available to install (I had to do it manually). You can also join the beta from the app’s listing in the Play Store so that you can have access to new releases sooner.

To get rid of the Discover, On Demand, and Live TV content you’ll need to disable it in your online media source settings:

https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

Set Movies & Shows, Live TV, and Discover Source to “Disabled” (not Disabled for Managed Users). That will get rid of the On Demand and Discover tabs in the nav bar and remove their content from the home screen. You need to force close and reopen the app for this to take effect. It will also remove Live TV content from your home screen. Once you’re on 2025.13.0 or later it will remove the nav bar button as well.

Finally, once you’re on 2025.13.0 there’s a new setting to configure the default page for the library view. It can be configured to be the Browse tab.

Did this a long time ago. This does not change what I see on the new android 2025.13.0. The old app I could just have my media alone. The new app forces Live TV, OnDemand, and Discovery at the bottom. I don’t want to see it anywhere, regardless if it defaults to my libraries or not.
The ONLY thing I want to see at the bottom bar are my libraries. NOTHING else. I really hate this mess. I don’t like options forced on me. NOT what I paid for!

Like this? (Ignore the blank posters, that’s due to the client device).

This is also on Android, running version 2025.13.0. When you disable those items in Online Media Sources, make sure you select “Disabled” and not “Disabled for managed users.” The latter leaves them enabled for the admin user. If that doesn’t work, force stop the app and re-open it.

Yes, like that. And My server has always set to “Disabled” and not “Disabled for managed users”. Forced stopped the app too. No change.

Well, that’s interesting (and unfortunate). The intention is that having those sources disable would completely remove that content from your home screen and nav bar. They even made a change in 2025.13.0 specifically to make it so Live TV was disabled if there was no source (online or local tuner).

Maybe try enabling the online sources (temporarily) and then disable them again to see if that helps? I can’t really think fo any legitimate reason why it should, but I’ve seen stranger things. And perhaps force stop the Plex app on your device and clear its data (you’ll have to sign in again) and cache. Perhaps something is cached on the device causing it to ignore the account settings change.

At the end of the day Plex has provided a means to do exactly as you’ve asked and it should be working (as it does for me and others).

Uninstalling and reinstalling the app, along with enabling and disabling the options in the server seemed to have worked. Thanks for the assist.

Thanks for following up. The app is in a weird state in its development cycle so I guess nothing should surprise me.

With the new update, is there a way to keep the Live TV and Discover tabs, but remove all the related content from the home screen? I definitely don’t want to disable live tv, as I have an HD Homerun, but I don’t want all the associated crap on my home screen.

Really, I would like to be able to set exactly what I want to see (and the order in which it appears) on the home screen.

If disable the Live TV option in your account settings but you have a network tuner (HDHomeRun), the Live TV nav bar icon is not removed. But the Plex online Live TV stuff is still removed from the home screen.

For Discover, it’s all or nothing. You either have it on your home screen and nav bar, or neither.

Thanks for that, didn’t realise I could switch the TV off and keep the tab alive. I have switched off the Live TV source, which is an improvement. For now I’ve left Discover on, as I use it on a (non-mobile) device.

Would still love to see full customisation of the home screen in a future update, if that is possible.
