Live TV Keeps craching watching on Android TV

This issue only seems to happen on Android TV’s (Sony TV’s running Plex from google play store) – the WEB app player will play just fine w/ no crashes…

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10467
Player Version#: 10.x? (Latest from Google Play store, in other room)
Tuner Make/Model: Dipsatcharr (IPTV via HDHR)
Guide/Lineup name: Dispacharr

What I think are relevant logs (at time of crash) below – specifically the NO PART DECISION TO CHOOSE FROM and then

Streaming Resource: Cannot make a decision because either the file is unplayable or the client provided bad data

however this doesn’t crash and stop on the web player?

Experiencing the exact same issue.

Setup:

  • PMS: 1.43.0.10467 (Docker/Kubernetes on Talos Linux)
  • Tuner: Dispatcharr (dev, IPTV via HDHR emulation)
  • EPG: XMLTV (tv.plex.providers.epg.xmltv:2)
  • Android app: 2026.1.0

Symptoms:

  • Plex Android app (phone) crashes immediately when attempting Live TV playback
  • EPG guide loads fine - crash happens when initiating a stream
  • The crash is at the native layer - no stream/transcode request ever reaches the Plex server
  • App force-closes before the JS log buffer can flush, so crash trace is lost from client logs

What works:

  • Live TV works on Samsung TV app (same server, same Dispatcharr tuner)
  • Regular (non-live) content plays fine on Android phone, both local WiFi and remote
  • Plex server logs confirm zero tuner/transcode requests received from the phone

What doesn’t work:

  • Live TV on Android phone over WiFi (same LAN as server)
  • Live TV on Android phone remotely (via Cloudflare tunnel)

Troubleshooting done:

  • Cleared app cache and storage - no change
  • Confirmed server-side is healthy (Dispatcharr, Plex Tuner Service, all pods running)
  • Server logs only show EPG grid requests (all 200 OK), never a playback request

This is clearly a client-side crash in the Android app’s player stack (ExoPlayer?) when handling IPTV/XMLTV-based live streams.

Only happened with the new PMS but it does appear to be client side because all programmes not being watched that are being recorded complete their schedule record without crashing

Yes the Android MOBILE app crashes when trying to bring up live TV in general… has this been acknowledged even at all by Plex staff?

I am having the exact same issues with Android TV client as well and have done for some time. Exact same issues and ONLY with the android TV plex client. can never watch live TV reliably despite other clients working perfectly fine with no crashes. When will plex staff do something about it!

How do we get someone from Plex staff to recognize this if it’s been such a long-standing issue?

No idea. honestly this issue has been a real problem for soooo long now. its been years and the devs have still missed this despite multiple threads people start with regards to this issue. its easy replicable as well. It only seems to affect android/android TV clients. Live TV has always been a bad issue with Plex.
