Live TV not available on Nvidia Shield after update

Possibly. All I know is that I tried everything I could think of for two days and nothing fixed it. I also have two PMS servers, a DS418Play and an I7 Windows computer, and neither worked. After I moved my HDHR to a different port on the same switch, and changed out ethernet cables, it started working again. Could something else have happened in the background at the same time that actually fixed the problem? Possibly. I’m just giving the information that I have on the issue. Nothing conclusive.

I have 2 PMS servers displaying this problem only on Android TV App. Each PMS server uses different HD Homeruns. The NAS PMS uses a connect, and two extends, the PMS on the Shield uses two old Duals. Makes no sense, other than something that has to do with the recently updated app. The Tuners are working fine, recording everything as usual. The Android app on my phone works either with wifi, or cellular the web app works, the fire tv app works, the XBOX One S app works. We just need to have the app fixed.

I’m having occasional issues with the users not showing up also. It just defaults to the last user. (When it happens) I think the removal of live tv is also related to it.

I’m not sure but I would guess that those features being “Plexpass” features, multiple users, and Live tv. There is something in the recent version of the Android TV App that is not recognizing that properly.

After today’s update, and a restart all is again good on the Android TV app for Plex I have “Live TV” again. Thank you for taking care of this so quickly.

Sorry I jumped the gun, Plex “Live TV” on Android TV, now works with my NAS PMS, but not with my Shield PMS. Didn’t change anything for the Nexus Player still no “Live TV” on it. Good news is some progress was made.

UPDATE:
After using for awhile, “Live TV” is no longer available.

May two shields do not show live tv after the update. I’m running against a Freenas jail server vs. 1.13.5.5102. Can anyone from Plex confirm that the issue is with the server? I do see live tv on everything except the Shield so it doesn’t seem likely.

Seems to be an Android TV issue, Shields running version 6 and new version 7 don’t work, Nexus player running Oreo doesn’t allow Live tv on Plex. Fire tv, Xbox one s, web and android phone all seem to work just fine.

I think it’s an Android Plex client issue. At least in my case the Android TV client didn’t have an update between working and not working. Just the Plex client updated. May be what you are saying.

I have the same issue. I have three Shields, we’ll call them X, Y, and Z, as well as a Synology NAS (DS918+).

Shield X is is running a Plex server w/ DVR. So is the Synology NAS. They are using HDHomeRun Connects for a tuner.

For some reason, Shield Y and Z will show live TV when connected to the Shield X server, as expected. But none of the Shields will show the live TV options when connected to the Synology server.

Web clients function properly for either server. This definitely looks like an issue w/ the Android TV client.

I’m having the same issue. Second time I’ve had this problem this year. Started today on my nvidia shield. I don’t have the option to even watch live tv anymore. It works fine on web client and fire stick but nothing on my Nvidia Shield x 2. I have two plex servers, a Synology play and an i7 Windows computer. Same problem using either server.

The “Live TV” action has moved to a more consistent location in the top row:

I have a similar but different issue. Using a Nvidia Shield as client, HDHR Duo as tuner, and UnRaid as server.

From a clean boot of the Shield, I log into the main admin user account, and Live TV is available and works. If I switch to a managed user (e.g. my kids account), I see Live TV is available (it shouldn’t be), but if I try to access it, I get an error that it’s not available. If I switch back to the main admin user account, Live TV is no longer available (i.e. not in the Discover Row). I can temporarily fix the issue by force quitting Plex from the Shield’s settings menu, but the problem will come right back as soon as I switch users.

I know this is an old thread but this week i have had this exact problem happen right before my eyes. I turned the shield and TV on and I had LiveTV pinned to the top of the sidebar but just as i was about to click it, it vanished! I thought fair enough it has just lost its pin so i scrolled down to the Shield Server (I have two Plex servers, 1 with my films/series and the 2nd (the Shield Plex Server) is just for LiveTV) and thought I’ll just need to re-pin it but nope its gone from that menu too.
However, from my other clients (Web, IOS, Roku) i can still see the LiveTV and it works fine, its just the Shiled Plex Client that doesnt show it anymore?

Any ideas how to get it back please, i’ve checked for updates and i’m on the latest client version?
