Live TV stopped working on Plex with HDHomeRun

do you happen to know where to get the older releases? I’m looking for the QNAP x86 so I can roll back to these two versions as well.

I am running Plex Media Server on Windows. I save all of my downloads. I have read that the software keeps previous versions. On Windows there is an updates folder under PlexMediaServer.

I’m on 1.16.3.1402 and see the Unable to load DVRs error. I don’t know if DVR / Live TV had been working on previous versions. I sometimes skip a few per update.

So it doesn’t look like they’ve fixed the problem in the latest version anyways. So it looks like we’re at least 3 releases in with the same problem…

Attempts to setup the tuner as if it was new fails after the channel selection by hanging forever.

Downgrading to 1.6.0.220 as @marvin826_comcast_net suggested brings live TV functionality back for me.

here we go again…
After downgrading and getting Live TV & DVR working again I got an alert that guide data would no longer work until I upgraded. With Version 1.16.2.1321 showing as available I decided to try that. Surely they’ve fixed this mess. no, they haven’t. Right after the upgrade live TV was working, but soon after it all stopped again. This is annoying. It’s been a while.

I was having similar issues since EPG took effect. I always update my Plex Media Server to the lastest version (on 1.16.3.1402 now) and have never uninstalled or reverted. The fix that worked for me is the following (borrow from from user Djurrep on another thread):
Restart the Plex Media Server. Go into your ‘settings’ --> ‘Live TV and DVR’ and then delete your DVR.

Now right next to Libraries, click the … symbol.

  • Optimize Database ( I actually didn’t need to do this, but he has this step)
  • Clean Bundles
  • Empty Trash

Restart the Plex Media Server.
Add your DVR back now and see if it works.

I knew it would work right away when adding my DVR back PMS found my HD Homerun connect (no need to enter the IP and force a connection)

Hopefully this works for other people!

I tried this, but after I restarted PMS a second time after deleting the DVR it was already there. Not sure why that would be, but it’s still broken too.

i have same problem with Qnap nas media server

same problem here (I live in the UK) and have the HDHomeRun Connect and HDHomeRun Connect Quatro.

strangely, after updating both HDHRs to the latest version (I thought the issue was with them rather than Plex), only the single tuner Connect showed up when trying to re-create the DVR settings… I’ve not uninstalled and rolled back to the working version that others have mentioned yet

looks like I’ll have to do all that un-install and re-install stuff that others have suggested to get both HDMRs to work properly.

Not a great advert for Plex updates if (as it seems) further updates just break it again.

Where’s the support from Plex here for something which is meant to be officially supported?

Finally got this fixed after following your instructions again and applying the version 1.16.3.1402 update. My guide data is working, DVR is working, and live TV tuning is working as well. Not thrilled that it took this long, but happy it’s working again. I didn’t even notice a mention of this updating fixing anything like this problem which seems odd.

I’ve just installed Plex Media Server on CentOS 7, after ~10 years with Kodi, and used SageTV before that, so I’m not a newbee. I currently have older HDHR5-2US HDHomeRun tuners.

This issue is making me rethink using Plex Pass. If I can’t get it stable in one month, I will move on. You should, too. What is the point of paying for a Plex Pass, if you cannot use it?

For a backup DVR, I’m using FireTV Recast with it’s own tuners and free guide, but it doesn’t serve my media files. I wanted an all in one, easy solution. I will attempt to downgrade to the working version.

PLEX - are you listening? Do you care? Do you test?

My research indicates they don’t, as I’ve seen this issue reported before and there is rarely a response from them.

Me too. My HDHR3-US wont add as a tuner. This is exactly why i bought the plex pass.

Plex developers… Please fix this great feature.

Well, Plex Pass has a lot more uses than just guide data and live TV. (Kinda like Amazon Prime…)

Having said that, it’s still annoying and I hope they fix it. I was hoping to move from Windows Media Center to this, but I have yet to have the guide data work consistently. (I still use Plex Pass to organize my other media, however…)

Having same issue. Can someone from Plex at least tell us what next steps would be?

[SOLVED] Check your I.P. address in Plex and your HDHomeRun. You may have to put it in manually. My IP had been 192.168.1.17. When I couldn’t get the live tv I checked the HDHomeRun and saw that the IP had changed to 192.168.1.18. So check that and make the necessary change to match Plex with the HDHomeRun and it should work for you. Mine did.

I had a similar issue last night on my HDHomerun Quattro where Tuner 1 stopped working.

It didn’t matter which client app I used: Plex Media Player, (the new) Plex for Windows app or Plex for Xbox One, all had the same issue if the server was trying to use Tuner 1.

Tuner 0 was recording at the time and Tuner 2 appeared to be work with the following test:

  • I opened up two different Plex apps on my Plex Server (Plex Media Player and Plex for Windows app)
  • Got live TV in both apps
  • Watch different channels in each app
  • Whichever app tried to use Tuner 1 failed and the one using Tuner 2 played

I rebooted both the machine and my HDHomerun this morning and repeated the test and Tuner 1 appears to be okay now.

I’m running:

Windows 10 1903
Plex Server: 1.17.0.1709
HDHomerun FW: 20190621

Has anyone gotten this to work again, it’s been almost a year I think since I’ve been able to get the LIve TV functions in plex to work.

Again, same problem… It worked on my HDHR legacy dual version 1 in the beginning and has not worked since going on almost a year. I remove and reinstall and it still doesn’t tune channels. HDHR Windows 10 software plays every channel with no problems whatsoever.

Officially, can someone from plex tell us what exactly is needed to troubleshoot? Do you want each of us to start a new thread? Don’t really need the PlexPass without this, and have allowed for almost an entire year of updates for a fix to be made with no success.

This is still not working at all. Using Plex for Linux 1.18.1.1973.

Setup can not find tuner. Native HDhomerun, tuner app on appltev, and programs like eyetv for OS X find it without issue.

Managed to get the LiveTV feature working with an OS X server: Version 1.18.1.1973. Looks like I need to keep two servers around - one for TV and one for everything else.

Still haven’t got my HDHomerun Quatro back up and running since the past update. I have it running on a ShieldTV and it was working fine one day, upgraded to a Lifetime Plex Pass and then it stopped working shortly thereafter. I get, “There was a problem discovering devices” when trying to set up the DVR - still can’t find it when manually entering the IP address of the HDHomerun. I’ve tried everything mentioned in this thread to no avail. I’m hoping this gets figured out soon…

One of the reasons I upgraded to Plex Pass in the first place was so that I can watch OTA stations on my phone or tablet via Plex.
