I'd really like to see an option for CPU priority, whereas locally spawned transcoder sessions take absolute priority over shared user requests. I share my server with a handful of family members and occasionally, as I'm sure a lot of people do, run into a situation where several shared users are transcoding content to their devices leaving me without enough horsepower to initiate another session for my own use. Frankly, I don't much care if a shared user is interrupted, buffered etc. My request should always rank higher than theirs.

I've searched a bit and can't imagine this hasn't been requested yet, so sorry if I've missed it.

I made this same request here....a little different since I did not take into account shared users I was referring to transcoding in general taking priority over any other tasks that server unit might be running (most relevant with those running on Linux/Mac/Windows machines. But could be useful for those running on NAS as well)

I was just about to post the same request. Server owners need a little more control in order to maintain stability.

1. Always prioritize owner and all his/her clients.
2. Limit the number of simultanious logins (globally)
3. Limit any given users number of simultanious logins
4. And for security, be able to IP mask users, even when logging in using myPlex (you can now use IP masking, but only for users logging in without credentials, you can not tie a user to a specific IP)

Early 2021 clean-up: duplicate

> PMS should allow the server’s owner to get priority when there’s no slots left to transcode without having to increase the limits. Thoughts?
